Emil Orlik: Figur unter Weidenbaum
colour woodcut and counterproof in black, 1902 Plate/Image Size: 14.3 x 13.2 cm - (5¾ x 5¼ inches) both unsigned
an unlettered proof on cream wove for the woodcut which appeared in the extremely scarce catalogue of the XIVth Exhibition of the Vienna Secession : Klinger-Beethoven, together with a counterproof of the image in black on white tissue thin wove; the counterproof is almost certainly a unique print as the technique by which counterproofs are made does not allow for multiples both prints in good condition. The sheet sizes are proof : 28.8 x 21.6 cms and counterproof 17.5 x 16.8 cms
