A remarkable impression of this VERY RARE portrait of the poet Rilke with whom Orlik had enjoyed a long friendship beginning in the 1890s; through Rilke's influence Orlik obtained many early commissions for book illustrations
the inscription notes that this is the second impression from the 2nd state of the etching but it is doubrful whether more than a few impressions were ever printed
on wove paper with full wide margins and in excellent condition
