Joseph Pennell (1857 - 1926) was American born. He lived and travelled widely in Europe from 1885 and was a prolific print-maker, illustrating the many books on their travels which he wrote together with his wife Elizabeth. They also wrote a biography of his mentor James McNeil Whistler
